What one has to understand is that a movie isnt just about a story, or the looks of the actors/actresses, or whether the cinematography is nice or not. There's more to it then that. There's dialogue, direction, costumes, chemistry, and more. This movie, I will admit, did not have an original story, it was typical bollywood, but it was presented differently. Now you saw how modern love really is in today's society, and how clueless we are nowadays. The onscreen chemistry between Saif ali Khan and Deepika was hard to miss. Deepika, in my view, was really comfortable in her role, though at certain moments there were tiny flaws (you have to understand this is only her 4th movie) No one here could pull off her natural ability to play Meera, and to be honest, I doubt any other actress could BE Meera (esp not kareena who was originally going to play the role) The cinematography: amazing. Direction: awesome, Imtiaz Ali at his best. Songs: FANTASTIC. This isnt a movie you sit through to learn something, or look at life differently, bollywood, or movies for tht matter, ARE time-passes. It's an entertainer, like the rest of Bollywood mainstream movies. We dont sit through them to understand life, we sit through them to escape the mundaneness of our lives, and just enjoy. Love Aajkal allows you to do that. It's hard not to find commonalities with the characters in the movie and urself. The characters are REAL and natural. The direction, yes is choppy, but that was what the director was trying to actively do. Anyways, I personally thoroughly enjoyed the movie (went with friends) and sat through it twice, and would love to do it again. Each time I analyze something new about it. It's actually a better movie than some of you are giving it credit for.
