Danny Boyle is a genius film-maker! Only someone like Boyle can pull off a likable film about Glasgow's junkies (Trainspotting), a Scottish modern day morality tale about the pit-falls of money and friendship (Shallow Grave), a funky zombie flick (28 days later) and now a magical film about the goodness and purity of a child's faith to do good with "Millions". Don't get me wrong, this is not just a kiddie flick, adults will fall in love with this feel-good film also. Alex Etel, the child actor who is the center of this film, is a precious find and has easily got to be the cutest kid on the face of this planet! He is the one who really makes this film, and delivers the best rookie breakout performance in years - one ounce too much on one side and this film would be sickly-sweet and prechy, one ounce on the other side and it would have been falling apart with phoniness. But Boyle's direction, the fantastic acting and the visuals in this film seem to snap, crackle and pop with that whole cool-UK vibe. I can't remember a film in recent memory which had me smiling the whole time. I hope this receives wider distribution because it's films like this that deserve to be seen instead of junk like "The Pacifier". Run, don't walk to catch this gem before it's lost.
