User's review

What a wonderful movie. Reminded me in some ways of how I felt when I read the Grapes of Wrath. Within all the misery and hardship and injustice, there was a core of human goodness and perserverance. This movie is so well directed and acted; why can't we have more movies like this? Nick Nolte only has a small role in the last 20 minutes of the movie, but he is excellent as usual.
