It is amazing to me that everyone who gave this movie a low rating seems to have done so because it isnt an academy award winning script. What did they want? It is what it is a disaster flick. It is all about the action and the special effects. It is not about character and plot development, or cinematography, or costume design etc. You go to see a disaster flick to see how well they create a disaster and how well they can make you feel the all the fear and stress of that disaster and make you ask yourself: Would I, or would I not survive? Would I be able to hold my breath that long? Would I be able to squeeze through that tight space? Would give hope or just give up? And let me tell you, if you can accept this movie for this alone and not expect anything else, it deserves and academy award because it is 100% better than that tired old original from 1972, and I saw that in first release at the theatre too! If you want Shakespeare, dont go to a disaster flick.
