Good acting. Beautiful cinematography. The plot doesn't drag, considering the language barrier and the almost two and a half hour length. But, Mel? What's up? There is plenty of gratuitous gore and violence. You can almost hear him screaming," O. K. shoot that one again being sure to get more of the blood spurting from the neck." or "One more time with a better close up of the baby being held upside down." There's a difference between realism and dwelling on gore. Is Mel trying to sell more tickets, or does he indeed have some major issues? Well, let's consider the track record...
