Good movie... very action packed... not sure why they need all of the language but still worth seeing.

Denzel Washington is the reason why "Training Day" is one of my all-time favourite movies. John Travolta has been great in movies like Phenomenon and Grease. Both actors working together... meh. The audience had a lot of great laughs -surprisingly at the parts that weren't supposed to be funny. Travolta's character was way too cheesy and could have done without the cheap facial hair. And I like Washington in more of a bad-boy/leading man role, instead of the wussy and vulnerable guy he played in this film. I'd wait to watch it on FOX or something...

A good movie I guess, its worth watching but not a big deal if you miss it, not the greatest movie but i've seen WAY worse. I personally liked the movie, a little unoriginal but it was ok.

Great movie, the amount of swearing it had was a little much, but other than that, it's a must see.

A movie worth the watch (I suppose... *queue enthusiasm*) This movie is a remake of an older one which my Dad actually reccommended to me. He enjoys the older one more where as I prefer this one, not because of the generation gap but because of the motive in the story. I really like when the bad guy is crazy and I especially like a crazy/vengeful bad guy. In the first one they're only after money, but me... I like vengence.

I liked this movie. There was a good plot, and good action. I liked how John T., and Denzal W. Play off of each other.

I rated this movie a 5 but it probably is even worse maybe a 4! Like some of the earlier posts said it's unoriginal and John Travolta was terrible and overacted as well. Another lousy movie in a year of bad movies! They keep getting worse!

What a boring movie. I love John Travolta. He's such an excellent actor but seems to be taking too many stupid movies to make money. I was very surprised to see Denzel Washington to have taken a part in this movie.

This type of movie has been done so many different times, I felt like I'd already seen it. It was predictable, boring, and completely unoriginal! It's so unfortunate to see that Hollywood has so little imagination, they think putting a couple of stars in a flick will make it a hit. The box office has proved against this theory. This is a 'sick-with-the-flu-in-bed' and there's nothing on TV kind of movie.

Really good story. John Travolta is awesome! I find the end a little bit weak and predictable, but it is worth watching.

Good acting but the stories was out of date. See the old the taking of pelham 123 and see if there is a date to it good movie for the time. It's like if the remade the good the bad and the ugly. And I hope I never see them do that either.

The title is appropriate as it's a by the numbers movie, nothing sets it apart from other run of the mill hostage movies. The twist with Washington's character and the end were boring. If you have nothing else to do and can see it cheap, it might pass the time.

Way better than I was expecting. Tense the whole way through with a little humour in between. It's great for a tense, popcorn thriller. Also great chemistry between Travolta and Denzel Washington.

[ATTENTION: This review reveals content of the movie.] Really brainless writing and 'drone' style acting. The fact that 4 out of the 5 trailer pics for this are from the last 5 minutes of the flick give you an idea of how weak it is. The entire movie is based on Denzel's character getting 10 mill to the evil Travolta. They actually drive it across New York. Ummm can we say HELICOPTER? Just insulting to the intelligence of anyone over the age of 30 and been exposed to quality film making.

I love John Travolta as a bad guy, he just oozes evil. Love Denzel as the cool and collected civil service employee unlucky enough to have gone to work that day. Perfectly cast, this was a good movie!

Okay so I went to see this movie with my Grandma, thinking it wasn't going to be anything like it was. I thought the story line of the movie was actually quite good, however it was over-run with the constant swearing throughout the movie. I think the character development of the two main characters was great, but there was not other characters in the story. If there was a few more characters I think the movie would have been much more enjoyable. At the end of the day, the movie wasn't terrible, just the wrong choice to go to with a grandparent!

Somewhat prdictable and without the great actors prob not that great a movie but Denzel and Johhny T are incredible in this Movie -- fantastic acting and believability makes for very good entertainment wich makes it a must see.

Tony Scott is officially my choice for worst director ever. Which is too bad because he used to be one of the best. Anyways, this movie is so full of choppy, early 80s, Musique Plus budget camera trickery that I was actually shaking my fist at the screen in anger. Other than that, the movie is decent, the performances of Travolta and Washington (and in my opinion, John Turturro in an unusually subdued role) being the main attraction. The story is pretty cut and dry, and the last half of the movie gets a little out of control. But it does keep the suspense for at least the first hour and a bit. Wait for video.

Great movie. Provides more proof that Denzel Washington is the man. Travolta was also great as a complementary actor. This movie gives you just enough action, suspense, and humour to make a excellent movie.

Fast paced, intense and engaging. As much a psychological thriller as an action film. I think it's a smart crime drama.

Enjoyed the movie. Better than the original. A different twisted plot was added. I'd see it again. Not for those that hate direct violence. I saw a few technical errors, (I have been an extra in several movies, thus without knowing, I saw them.) but it did not detract from the movie at all.

I'd like to see Denzel do a role outside of the "calm cool collected" roles he's been typecast into lately... He's such a magnificent actor, but he's not getting the Chance to diplay his colours... Over all though, great job.

[ATTENTION: This review reveals content of the movie.] This movie is actually a remake movie (same name) from 1974. I imagine they followed the same storyline. Perhaps they should have kept the same time period instead of today's world. I was curious about the cast selection. They are fine actors and did a fine job. Lots of close-up shots to enhance their emotions (standard director's stuff) Travolta wasn't convincing as a "psycho". Maybe a young Robert deNiro, James Woods, or any of the Bond movie villains. Perhaps Morgan Freeman would have been a more believable and vulnerable than the role of Denzel Washington. And why have Tony Soprano as a mayor.. ? I fully expected him to pull out a cigar, and order his boys to go in and whack out the bad guys. And how is it that a professional negotiator can't negotiate his way into negotiating? The middle and ending had far too many flaws to be credible. The dialog was "tired" and predictable. I can't give you the examples in case you want to see it. I suppose I could mention that the bad guys didn't happen to notice an open online laptop that had been streaming to the internet for most of the movie. You should wait for the video.

Standard thriller made much, much, better by the actors and by Tony Scott's direction, although it isn't one of his better efforts. Big brother Ridley is the one, it seems, who gets all the best scripts, but Tony is a good journeyman director who adds more to this type of film than, say, someone like Michael Bay, who should simply quit the film industry because of sheer incompetence. The dynamics between Travolta and Washington are first rate, especially Travolta, who seems to love playing the psychotic. Playing a man who has thoroughly embraced the dark side in an almost infantile way seems to bring out the best in him. Denzel Washington plays the not-so-shiny hero to Travolta's villain and wisely conceals his own dynamism whenever the two appear in the same scene. No one trumps Travolta in this film and Denzel wisely stays out of it. A very good job done with standard to poor story material from the get go. Only Tony Scott can make so much from so little. That said, this is not a mindless piece of entertainment. You have to watch and listen - ENGAGE is the word here. If you don't you miss the nuances and back story that make this film better than the original 1970's film version with Walter Matthau.

As I watched the movie it just got worse and worse and worse. Travolta played a character named Ryder and this character was very angry and raged and IT SEEMED that he had alot of back story. And as I watched the movie I kept waiting for them to somehow reveal the back story, and it never came, he was simply just choosing a character to do the movie as with no reason or resemblance to the plot. And now about the plot, it was lame at the very best. Nothing much happened, none of the characters had concrete goals and since that; none of the goals were accomplished. Finally the Directing, what the *%$# was the director thinking. It was cheesy shots, and transitions.'Trying to be cool' would be the best way to describe the directing style. With the cheesy "32 MINUTES" and other number of minutes, flashing on the screen accompanied by cheesy sound effects. Over all I would recommend that you never see the movie. Not even for free. I want my 2 hours back.

Denzel and especially Travolta steal the show. I am just a bit disappointed, as the plot did not take many risks and was fairly "by the book". The hostages could have had a bigger role; there could have been more attempts to escape or knock over the bad guys. The end was quite dull. Overall, entertaining enough but not fantastic.

I thought it was could have been a fairly interesting movie but like a few others, I felt the profanity was gratuitous. I not only feel it didn't add anything to the film, it actually took something away. I was cringing everytime Travolta swore, & believe me that was a lot! Not to mention, he didn't have much of a repertoire in that area either indicating, in my opinion, a huge lack of creativity, to say the least.

Great movie, loved it, it really shows what an indepth actor John Travolta can be, he really plays a great "bad guy". Denzel Washington, as always, plays a very believable role. Did find they swore a lot in this movie, which probably could have been curtailed a bit, but it did go along with the theme, after all you did have some bad a's in the movie. If your looking for a good movie - this is the one to go and see - you won't be disappointed, good support cast to round out the movie.
