Impressive debut film, and equally impressive maturity from a young writer/director. The English subtitles were terrible, though--I hope they will redo them before general release.

I have to disagree with the raves about this movie. I found the direction lame, the cinematography looked like the work of a first year student in film school during the 1960s, and the script - and particularly the rage of the teenage boy - left me thinking that this was completely unrealistic. Much of the movie is dramatically overacted. I know, from painful personal experience, that teenagers can react violently against their parents, but this movie just seemed immensely self-indulgent and pointless.

Funny, sad, emotional, it has it all! Acting was great. The dysfunctional relationship between mother and son was realistic, identifiable. You will want to own this movie! I saw this with my son, who was also impressed.

Bravo Dolan, bravo Dorval, bravo Clément, bravo Tulasne, bravo Spaziani pour avoir eu le courage de faire ce film sans budget. Le résultat est magnifique, la récompense est grande et j'espère que tous ces artistes seront respectés comme ils le méritent.
