Very disturbing but one of those movies that you must make yourself see. It is so very unsettling to think that such barbarism is going on even today when we think we are so modernized. I can't see to stop thinking about this film; I guess that denotes a great film.

For those of you that say its exaggerated, I guess we can also agree and think , that the women in india that were doused with kerosene and put on fire by their husbands, fathers, or brothers, is an exageration as well! This story came out many years ago at a time where these countries were practicaly unknown and considered to be exotic and romantic. Even though some parts were invented to complete the picture, the objective was to inform outsiders what does go on in certain rural areas where these uneducated poor people still live in time capsules of the past! Alot more since the time this story came out have emigrated to other countries and opening up their borders- it certainly are not the people that are cut off from civilazation that are the emigrants.

Very much exaggeration here. This film will help to further inflame morally superior Western audiences against primitive Iran.

This movie is a must see... it portrays the reality of Iranian women... no voice or power... so disturbing what men will do in the name of Allah...

IMPORTANT! It has to be said the plot of this movie has been overly exaggerated for the typical north american viewer... it is crucial for the audience to know that in 2002 Iran's top judicial leader abolished stoning as a method for execution therefore it has come to be more of a village/cultural practices in the rural outskirts of Iran... the practice was re-introduced last year and there have been 3 cases since then... all 3 being men!! I am not undermining the issue what so ever, being a Iranian myself, but it has be noted that the ultra exaggeration of this movie has come to serve the stereotypes of the north american viewer of the middle east... as a whole!!! Even Amnesty International (the biggest human rights watchdog in the international community) stated that the movie has come to serve its audience for the wrong reasons... and movies, being one the most vital forms of communication, should be put forth to close the gaps between societies and not widen them further... shame on the director of this movie.

It is a very breathtaking movie... it is shocking to see what ignorance, violence and disrespect some parts of the world have for human beings, especially women... A must see movie... this movie is based on a true story...

Very disturbing, but very important to see. The movie was well made and the acting was exceptional. This movie is far from entertaining, it is an eye opening piece that will keep you thinking for days and possibly weeks to come. Powerful and critical to watch and know what is going on around us. The stoning was just brutal to watch, and the character development was extraordinary. A few people actually left the theatre for that part, but looking away or leaving will not diminish the reality of what is happening to women in some cultures.

Shocking. Unfortunately based on a true story. Gives you goose bumps for so much injustice, hypocrisy and violence. Besides portaying the barbarian (to say the least) practice of stoning, the movie sends a powerful message on the importance of diverity, judgement, reason, freedom of speech etc. Love the ending scene. Shohreh Aghdashloo is magnificent.

Great performance! Extremely disturbing subject! It is sad to see that in some parts of the world life of a woman has no value and there is no respect for human beings... It is a shame what religion preaches in some countries... and what crimes are done in God's name... A must see movie!

Although very disturbing, the movie was made brilliantly with oscar worthy performances. Best movie I've seen this year.
