The story was weak, the acting was nothing special. The only good part was Billy Crystal.

Midly entertaining. If you choose not to see it, you won't miss anything. If your significant other drags you there, you'll survive. Of course, if you get bored, you could always concentrate on your significant other. ;-) The best work in this movie: the makeup artist who did Julia Roberts for the "fat" sequences.

Although it was a cute comedy, it is not worth seeing in the theater. Seeing Julia Roberts in a "fat suit" was quite interesting. It shows how skinny she actually is. She was supposed to gain 60 lbs and to any average person that is quite an amount to put on. Although Julia Roberts did look overweight, she definitely not look obese due to how thin she was before putting on the 60 lbs. In summary- good actors/actresses with a few funny parts, but it is very "hollywood".

Frank Azaria steals the show you can see why he's so needed on the Simpsons. This is a feel good movie that's light hearted. No real belly laughs here just a few chuckles which relies on misinformation. Fast paced but cute. Well casted and enjoyable... I didn't know Billy Crystal could write! Scary!

I will grant that this movie is fluffy and yet I maintain that it never tried to be anything else. Go see this and enjoy it. If you're looking for a film to disect go somewhere else. Yes this movie is just an enjoyable waste of time, but most movies can't even claim to be that. Cheers.

I loved it! I think it's a great movie to make fun of stars who take themselves too seriously. All the actors were in the right role... Even though I'm sure Ms. Zeta-Jones isn't as mean in real life as she is in this movie. So good story, great actors... Quite amusing for a summer film!

I was expecting more from this movie considering it has all the big name actors in it. What I found instead was that the movie tries really hard to be funny, but the satirical story line starts wearing thin after a while. The humour is too exaggerated (e.g. Zeta-Jones' & Azaria's characters) and the jokes are predictable. I guess this is what Hollywood perceives as comedy. If you're expecting romance or comedy, just keep your expectations low and you won't be disappointed. You won't miss much if you don't go see this piece of... fluff. I'd suggest waiting for it to come out on video, unless you really have nothing better to do on a Tuesday evening.

I just saw America's Sweethearts last night and I thought it was terrific! I was surprised to see that its average rating was so low on this site! I thought it was a great comedy, featuring some of my favorite actors :) Julia Roberts was great & I adore John Cusack.

What a waste of Julia Roberts' and Catherine Zeta-Jones' talent. TERRIBLE. Not funny at all, superficially developed, and just a waste of time. A totally pointless story, and catherine's character makes you want to jump into the movie and smack her. Save your money and go see something better.

I have to admit I was very disappointed when I left the theatre. What was tooted to be a big summer movie, is in actual fact, a big summer bomb! The storyline was very weak and the humor so not funny! I felt it was a movie far beneath all the stars talents. What was with that accent of Hank Azaria's? Sounded like a gay Spanish guy with a lisp, not a macho Spanish guy at all. I certainly did not feel I got my money's worth with this movie. Save your money!

Julia Roberts shouldn't of made this film. There was no chemistry with the other actors. The only thing that salvages a bit the movie is Billy Joel. Take away Billy Joel and the film is a 100% bomb.

What a waste of time! After all the promotion around this movie I really thought that, given the actors, and a script by Billy Crystal - this movie might have been more than a regular cheesy comedy! Totally wrong! It's sooo predictable, from the first minutes. Since Julia Roberts and Crystal are good friends, it's understanble why she accepted this role after winning an academy award. Zeta-Jones and Azaria are fake and unconvincing. A total waste of time, this is another "flop of the summer". All in all, I expected an intelligent comedy - and all I got was a regular Hollywood, 1000 times seen before production... There's no zero, so I'll have to settle with a 1.

Very much a chick flick, but a cute one. Billy Crystal is great, and John Cusack, well, he's always great. Probably not exactly what you'd expect from the trailers, it's actually a lot less sappy.

An enjoyable piece of summer fluff. There are some really good jokes in this film about the Hollywood film industry. The romantic angle betwen Julia Roberts and John Cusack doesn't quite work. However, the characters are entertaining and worth seeing.

Quite honestly, I am surprised that Catherine Zeta-Jones would do this film. It is a typical Julia Roberts's type film... Cutsey love story except there was NO story. I cannot remember when I have seen a film this bad. However, C. Z. -J. Was quite good in a comedy role. Going to see this film was a toss-up between it and Jurassic Park3... I chose wrong.

Oh WOW! America's Sweetheart's was the BEST movie I have EVER seen! I LOVE movies that have a love story in them!! Julia Roberts is my all time FAV actress (Great Job in the movie! ) Everyone in this movie was GREAT! If you haven't seen it, then go see it! You will laugh and shed a few happy tears all at once! =0).

Been a long time since I laughed so hard. Satirical view of movie stars and their publicists. Almost every sentence of the dialogue is hilarious and full of irony. The audience with me didn't seem to grasp half the humor of it, probably too young or too unfamiliar with the movie business. Crystal is making fun of his own industry in a way only he could and the cast follows perfectly without becoming caricatural. Delightful!

Yeah I agree with a fella above, Billy Crystal is the best and of course my favourite actress Julia was perfect in this fabulous movie :) First half of the movie was kinda naive but the ending of the story fixed everything. Go and see it... Cause it's worth it.
