I always wondered what happened to Gunnery Sergeant Tom Highway... Clint Eastwood pretty much plays the same character... Clint Eastwood is really great in Gran Torino. Anyone who knows someone from the leads generation can relate to the intolerance and he played it to the max. I can imagine that some people might be shocked by the racist remarks throughout the film but it's par for the course. The movie does have some surprising, graphic violence so be prepared for that. Unfortunately, Christopher Carley who plays Father Janovich delivers a completely unemotional performance. It was like he was reading off a cue card.
