"Coming Home " is a very pleasing, loving documentary about the Irish problem of emigrants which began with the great potato famine in the 19th century. Being an emigrant is a concept of necessity as Irish and other European nations were on the verger of starvation. Having emigrated to Canada when a very young child with my family, this doc, probably more than any others touched me deeply. As in the film, our family made the trip back to Italy 12 years later, but it was impossible to remain permanently. Canada had become our home. Very few emigrants, it has been show, can return to their roots and settle in again. It's really impossible to do when a new and better life has been provided by the powers that be!
