EFFIE GREY is as strange a movie on MARRIAGE that you will ever witness, and it is all a Victorian truth. Famed art critic John Ruskin's marriage to a 19 year old beauty is NEVER consummated due to his revulsion of female pubic hair which he never got over imagining that women were all like the female statues he critiqued, smooth and hairless. THIS IS THE PREMISE OF THE STORY, A FACT ALMOST ANY INTELLIGENT PERSON KNOWS. Wait and see what the film holds in store for you. Written by Emma Thompson, I would have liked a much deeper analysis of the RUSKIN phobia but then the movie has much bigger fish to fry and it does with a vengeance, of sorts.
