    Sweet Deceptions

'I dolci inganni' is a surprisingly good film especially in the hands of famed Italian director Alberto Lattuada. Though the cast was largely unknown to me, the female lead of Catherine Spaak is not only well known but proceeded to make a number of Hollywood and French films to boot! Though from 1960, Lattuada presents the feature as a modern romance, but he does not forget his older roots of Italian cinema which presents a combination view of romance. Remember, by 1960, we are already in La Dolce Vita era of Italian film and for many years that type of feature would dominate the Italian landscape!
