Charlie Chaplin wrote, directed and starred in this silent from 1928 which did earn some first Oscar Nominations. The plot is rioutous as the Little Tramp gets trapped in the centre ring of the circus tent. Chaplin is hilarious, but there's a twist waiting for the audience of major importance. Chaplin was given a special Oscar for conceiving and starring in the entire production of The Circus.
