This is by far the best film I've seen this year. I've been anxiously awaiting its release since I wasn't able to get tix to see it at TIFF last fall. It is a beautiful to watch film based on historical events. I know nothing about Danish history so I do not know if it is accurate, but who cares? It is a European, slow-burn, plot thickening, sensuous, beautiful, mind-expanding, mind-boggling film. All of the costumes, locations and photography were sumptuous. It's been 10 days since I saw the film and I'm still thinking about the characters, the events, its resonance hundreds of years later.
