What a lovely movie! I had little expectations as Rachel McAdams has never inspired me except in the film "Notebook." This film, thx. To the main protagonist and his parents, the great life story and the humorous and heartwarming messages, conveyed so many lessons for living in the present. It has its own power in being not over the top, fraught with good values and in forcing you to examine your own life. The father and son relationship is to me the most powerful and beautiful in the film. The writing is intelligent, creative and romantic, definitely not a shallow piece of work. As usual, Bill Nighy is excellent in his portrayal of the father and his son is perfection in his own character. (Domhall Gleeson) What a refreshing piece of work; not trying to push the envelope with violence, sex or anything else that is believed to sell tickets but never cuts it for me... Although I have never been to England, the settings are just beautiful and have a charming character of their own which parallel the characters in the movie. Life's twists and turns, choices to be made and a reminder of how important our present moments really are, continue to surface and resurface In the film. It is a thought provoking film full of "moments." The music is heartfelt, different and very moving, not your typical mainstream scores. So ask yourself when you have watched this movie; if you had to do it all again, would you do things differently?
