I have long been an Altman fan having seen all of his more youthful works on DVD and the later ones like Gosford Park theatrically. I enjoyed this doc which was narrated by his wife of many years, a terrific piece of work that seemed almost INFORMAL as was the man/director himself. It dealt with Altman's great cinematic style which in truth was no style at all. He kept re-inventing ways of telling a great narrative with each film. Whether a huge Altman fan or just trying to learn a bit more of the man, this Altman doc will please almost everybody. What pleased me immensely was his Special Oscar for lifetime achievement in direction not winning after 5 nominations. I actually remember the Oscar telecast when Altman was so honoured. A very special director who always did it HIS way, not what the Studios or Producers wanted.
