    American Sniper

I love movies that make me uncomfortable and force me to rethink my positions. American Sniper did this for me by making real the impact of war on those who serve and the prices vets pay. Eastwood does an excellent job of moving the movie through war zones and family life. I still have my concerns about Texas and the redneck solutions the state imposes on all life forms. But this movie, while acknowledging this, goes into the psychology of service and the horror of war. I liked the ending in Deer Hunter where DeNiro could not shoot the deer after experiencing the horror of war. This movie failed to get a ten because in its ending, it tried to soften the very impact it tried to create in the war scenes and adjustment to civic life. Nevertheless, a great movie.
