Unusual lately, that one goes to a film thinking they might see something new and challenging. Birdman had me duped, a bit, on that front. This is a clever, nicely crafted film. It does tread along the edges, of alienating, but compelling. Let's you get in the characters heads better than most, lately. Winning acting tho', this ensemble has big CV swagger, for a reason. Keaton is notable, and deserving. Norton aces cretinous. Emma Stone's flawed, but steely role is notably rendered too. Watts and Riseborough shine, in supporting, but vital parts. Zach Galifianakis finally, gets on reception, rather than delivery end of annoying dysfunction, with dignified restraint. Good movie, absolutely. Ceiling shattering, not quite. Stepchild mutant of The Dresser. Prairie Home Companion and Being John Malkovich. I think it'll get a nod from the prize's, it's an in the family piece. Reluctant 8, mostly for daring.
