Carrington

Carrington is the story of the friendship between artist Dora Carrington (Emma Thompson) and gay Bloomsbury Group writer Lytton Strachey. Their unconventional and enduring friendship and love story begins when Stracey, a somewhat flamboyant 'bachelor' becomes attracted to what he thinks is a boy. Unbelievably Dora does fall in love with Lytton despite being told Strachey is a pederast. Price's Strachey is a revelation as the unrepentant homosexual equally content with having a book published as falling for some college boy. Despite its lush surroundings, the film is dark, even depressing but overall a fine English drama and memorable depiction of a gay man. The film is based on the book 'Lytton Stachey' by Michael Holyroyd. I suppose the title of the film, at least in part, was changed due to the great fame of Emma Thompson all through the 90's.
