Cinderella

Hollywood in 100+ years has created few story lines as timeless as this one. Wanted to see this treatment of the tale.

Like going to see a great musician, even if their genre isn't your thing.

It's an easily watchable film, vivid, hopeful and set in a fantastic place.

Lily James (we'll see more of her) is a fine Cinderella, lovely, kindly and wonderous. She even passes as someone who might knuckle down to manual labour. Good job, overall.

The notable on screen smack tho', is Cate Blanchett as the step-mother, preening, petty and vile. Cate B. is a major operator of an actor, just knows how.

Richard Madden is cast appropriately as "the Prince", likely worth winning and besotted, the roles major hooks.

The rest of the cast are fine, supporting the central story with aplomb.

I do feel the treatment over compressed, wouldn't want another hour or anything, but a bit more evolution from one phase to another maybe.

Still, OK and you can take the whole family, or recommend it without fear of offence. Another 7, I think it could've flowed a bit better, and seemed less hurried.
