A remarkable, wonderful film we saw not more than a week ago. It's frightening to the extreme as we venture to countrysides where perverted and unwholesome matters can occur at any given moment... as the film purports to tell. Anyone with common sense would know better, yet this nasty, gritty tale tells much truth as one gets into the hinterlands of inbred families. I've been in these areas as a good friend lives in Tennessee and took me on a shocking tour. The four male leads are superb, but, as I hear it, Burt Reynolds made a particular impression on the movie going public of the time, not being true actor material. It would seem that this film changed Burt's film fortune big time. Jon Voigt gives another good performance as does Ronnie Cox who probably no one knows. And then there is the other man of which NOTHING WILL BE SAID! YIKES!
