A beautiful story of Nathan, a very shy, introverted but bright teen and his country closeted neighbour, Roy, one year older. The boys fall in love in their natural, rural habitat of Louisiana, but not all is well from many points of view: starring with Nathans angst with a sexually abusive father to the overt prejudices of the deep South. The story was more than boy meets boy. It's a film that touches on several other issues including a bit of a thriller as the story moves on. The film ends in a way I hoped it would not end, but there is something at the conclusion that brings a bit of consolation as it did in the original novel.
