Edge of Tomorrow

From the trailers, Edge of Tomorrow looked like another plain old Oblivion-like sci-fi action movie. I didn't really have high expectations, even with great word-of-mouth and a current 95% on Rotten Tomatoes. Well, I could say that Edge of Tomorrow is the biggest surprise of 2014 so far. This movie was AWESOME! Tom Cruise does a pretty great job (as always) as his well-developed character. Emily Blunt gives a charming and bad-ass performance and the whole supporting cast does very well. The special effects are unbelievably good and the 3D was actually very well utilized. The IMAX looks amazing and brings everything to life. The real highlight here is the story and the dialogue. The Groundhog Day-like story works extremely well and never got boring or slow once. The fast pace is kept the whole runtime and there was a lot of edge of your seat action and suspense. There were many lighthearted funny moments that balanced out the emotional parts. Overall, Edge of Tomorrow is a very fun, very smart and very suspenseful science fiction film that really proves why you go to the movies. This movie is an experience that all action lovers should have. RATING: 8.9/10.
