    Edge of Tomorrow

Edge of Tomorrow is certainly one hell of an entertaining film, however it's held back from being anything more than a mild diversion by some script doldrums and a totally wooden performance from Emily Blunt. Granted, willowy as she is I felt she was somewhat miscast as a butch military dame. Thankfully Cruise has his charisma turned to maximum and if you find the guy annoying, WELL, this movie might be for you, seeing as how he dies hundreds of times on screen. Paxton and Gleeson also turn in fun performances, albeit their roles are small in the scheme of the film. Oh, and the aliens and time travel aspect were nifty as well. Ultimately, I'd have to say I prefer the book. Still, fun scifi actioner.
