Eye in the Sky

This film asks a great deal, it's thought provoking, position challenging.

I don't know if I've been in quite as quiet, nor rapt an audience in some time.

Very well made, but economically so. More of a multi act play in the editing and staging.

The cast is fully engaging, at every nod, blink, pregnant pause declaration or invited speculation.

Helen Mirren is up to her best here. Aaron Paul fine, including you in an ultimate chance at choice. Babou Ceesay as a man fully experienced in all the dimensions of the issue, but honourably conflicted. Barkhad Abdi, subtle, committed and illuminating in his role.

Then entire cast by choice and level of performance convinces.

Alan Rickman's last film performance is convincing and authentic, he'll be sorely missed.

There are arguments about the morality of drone warfare, faith as political motive and whether martyrdom is simply murder by a duped soul.

This is a revelation of what taunting the militar-industrial complex will invite to innocent non-combatants in unaware proximty to those who offer mayhem.

Thought provoking, riveting, challenging and admirably crafted, an 8.
