"Gone Girl" is a meaningless, meandering, interminable paean to cynicism and nihilism. Its purpose seems to be to destroy any faith in humanity that one might have. It was a waste of reasonably good acting by a fairly good cast and their contribution(s) to this disaster alone are what got it as high a mark from me as a '2'; otherwise, it was a big fat zero.

So... had you read the book prior to seeing the movie?
No. One can only hope that the book, as is usually the case, was far better than the movie. That said, I found that the movie "No Country For Old Men," bad as it was, was superior to the book. I've made some great literature discoveries from movies, though, the writer Martin Booth being among the most recent.
