One of Barbara Stanwyk's more bizarre films, Lady of Burlesque was seen as a double bill on DVD with The Strange Loves of Martha Ivers, a very strange pairing, indeed. It's a comedy of sorts with some thrills or horror thrown in for good measure, all directed by "Wild" Bill Wellman who directed the very first film to win an OSCAR as Best Film of the year, Wings, the only silent film to have won that honour, the title indicates everything you will be seeing with something "very bad" thrown in for good measure! I wasn't too crazy with the film. But then, who would be after first viewing MARTHA IVERS!
