    Lady Sings the Blues

Diana Ross earned an Oscar Nomination as Best Actress in her portrayal of blues singer Billie Holiday. The performance is nuanced and moving and remains Miss Ross's best work on film. Billie Holiday's tortured life is searingly captured in this film by Sidney Furie. Billy Dee Williams and Richard Pryor play very significant roles in the life of the troubled Lady Day. The ambiance and mood of the piece is beautifully captured in colour cinematography.
