There's not much magic here-in the moonlight or elsewhere in this rather flat comedy-beyond a promising beginning. The actors are game, but they are defeated by a rather lackluster script. There is charm, however, with cinematography that brings out the best of the lush French countryside and a soundtrack the provides everything from Bix Beiderbecke to Beethoven. All in all a bit of a disappointment from the prolific Woody. For Woody Allen completists only.
