A very good war picture indeed. I liked the intense battle scenes and the concussion sounds of the cannon fire and the sound and images of the cannon projectiles smashing into the wood ships. But what I will remember the most was the characters in this film and how they related to each other. The most interesting character was Captain Aubrey who had so many worthy dimensions to his character. Also of great interest to observe were the ships surgeon and the very brave young officer who lost his arm due to infection. One really gets a sense of a sailor's life on a 18th century British war ship. Overall an interesting and intelligent movie that captures the essence of the time in which the story takes place. See it on the big screen.
