    Melancholia

Deadly serious look at the superficiality of life in the face of an imminent large scale crisis. You don't find stories any more sobering than this. Hell, I had to meditate a few hours just to get my head on straight after the fact. Just couldn't fall asleep afterwards. And no, I had not eaten any overly spicy salsa sauce before bed. Convincing acting, penetrating Ibsen-like script, a bit slow in parts, but good special effects as well. Like his previous work Dogville, Lars von Trier knows how to rip away the veneer. Get set to have most of your niceties torn from your mind. And this is not even a horror movie!
