    Philadelphia

We have perhaps passed the era when AIDS was in the public forum every single day as the body count mounted terribly during the height of the Aids Epidemic. Yet, Philadelphia gives a stirring account of what it was like to be on that Aids's list coupled with those who fought courageously for their life and dignity and fought the good battle for the unbelievable discrimination of the period. Tom Hanks won the first of his 2 Best Actor Oscar Awards in a compelling, sensitive performance as a young man afflicted with the disease. The film is very memorable as well for its Oscar Winning Song 'Streets of Philadelphia' by Bruce Springsteen and its other Oscar Nominated song 'Philadelphia' by Neil Young. Denzel Washington as the lead lawyer is in top form along with co-star and Oscar Winner Hanks. A worthy film beautifully written by Oscar Nominated Ron Nyswanner.
