Real Steel brings some originality to the boxing ring, if nothing else. The theme is carbon copy "Rocky": work hard, persevere, believe in yourself, fight for those you believe in, etc. It's all good... those are the emotional elements that hook an audience and draw them into the action as something more than ringside spectators at a fight. It's the ingenuity that raises this movie to the next level. The casting is superb and the CGI is flawless, as is the camera work. Even the design of the robots is ingenious. The impassive faces covey real emotion without any facial expression whatsoever. On top of all this, the film is just good clean fun, which is a rarity in the theatre these days. A highly recommended film for all audiences.
