RICH HILL is a brilliant documentary chronicling the lives of 3 Missouri boys and their families. The two film makers took an entire year to film the project to ensure we witness closely the impoverished state of the families, the personal problems within, the dismal future of anything better, each boy, each family so completely different from one another. Rich Hill has a population of 1,393 persons, probably all in the same condition as the families highlighted. It's a heartbreaking vision of millions of small town Americans who are struggling similarly to eek out a bit of decency, almost surreal to see how many Americans have absolutely not one shred of the so-called American Dream. I was saddened beyond belief that no real hope would ever come to these people. One family and their boy I truly came to like... a decent, selfless boy who just cared so damn much! Rich Hill was the winner of the Grand Jury Prize at SUNDANCE, 2014.
