    Sing Street

Saw it at a promotional viewing, so a very mixed audience, and a full house. The feeling of approval very high.

Resonates of Footloose, but especially "The Commitments" and I feel it'll linger in high regard.

This is a movie about and including music, but not really a musical, and that's a strength.

Well written, clever, shot in authentic surroundings and I got ( some technology references aside ), a 60's ish feel.

Lucy Boynton is just spot on as the muse, very solid performance should be a darkhorse for some glitter.

Should be a career changing role, for her.

Ferdia Walsh-Peelo's evolutionary role is also a fine tuned job. Mark McKenna as his collaborator notable as well, with no small homage to John Lennon. The pair channel early Lennon-McCartney not a little, methinks.

Thought Jack Reynor as Brendan whose out of reality, realities drive the live your dream aspect home.

Ben Carolan really good as the budding Richard Branson-esque chap with big thinking.

The whole cast cannot be faulted, exemplary work really.

John Carney as his crew have a gem here, and one for the books as they say. Very good, indeed.

Only slightly soft bit, is the title.

Ten's a long way up, but I've given far less deserving films 8's lately. This is an 8.75.

Hard won, but rounded up, that's a 9.
