Recommendable, enough I think it knocks half a star rating off several good films, I've seen.
Boston is a favoured backdrop for film makers. Has the brooding light, the wear and tear of history and the great cultural dynamics.
The writing team has crafted a fine script. Tom McCarthy's direction keeps the pacing tight and snappy, and the performances expressive.
The cast is an all star grouping, they all brought the characters to life in full.
Mark Ruffalo very good here in a co-lead with Michael Keaton, strong performances. Rachel McAdams, has great range, fine here too.
John Slattery necessarily solid. I thought Lev Schreiber's understatement defining. Stanely Tucci's frenetic simmer, Jamey Sheridan's buffered indignation crucial.
The whole ensemble well chosen, the faces, the gestures, the voices just knit it all into a real compelling watch.
Nominations? If there is any justice a few, wins might be harder.
Good effort, two hour and change flies by, and the world ought to know the story. High, high 8, among the years best, defines what a drama ought to be.
