Wow. I was absolutely dumb-founded at this flick. It supposedly is not for "young children".. but I cannot imagine anyone over the age of twelve who would find this movie entertaining. A mental institute that is a front for a house of "naughty girls/prostitutes"... all of home are stunning and can only wear mini skirts (what of the odds of having that combination? ).. and happen to be martial artists... with no apparent practice... or skill... And the game plan for the escape is explained in a dream from a white dude, who is living in a martial arts temple in deepest Asia... The story is as horrid as the acting. [...] I tried to rationalize the movie's presentation value but could not. It was a total FAIL on every level, even as a tongue-in-cheek comedy.

Wow... Did you ever miss the point on this one, the fact that I have to point out that the brothel, (and the zombie germans, and the dragon) all took place in this girls imagination; really takes my breath away. Also, I think you mean; "all of *whom* are stunning".

This obviously wasn't the type of movie for you. The fact that you didn't understand that the girls were using their imagination means you shouldn't have seen the movie, I personally loved the story of using your imagination as a way of escaping and overcoming, and the visual effects were stunning!

Thanks for pointing out my typo... There is another one if you look closely. If you look through my other reviews you will see that I see a wide range of movies. I certainly understand that it is a fantasy movie, but the fantasy has to be tied into some form of a reasonable storyline. This movie is a herky-jerky patchwork quilt with no substance. The fantasy part is no better than anything else out there. The acting is atrocious and I blame this on the director, not the actors themselves. Shutter Island, a fantasy film, is a classic example of a person having fantasies due to personal trauma. At least its storyline could be guessed at and followed. With slasher films like Friday XXiii, we as an audience know ALL the girls wear skimpy stuff... whoever says "we are safe now" is the next one to die etc... a complete fantasy film..."Sucker-Punch" is just a bad movie. In closing did you actually think that I could not perceive the fantasy element to this movie? Gee and I thought that the real Ninja Turtles had shown up in her first fantasy... Sorry for the sarcasm. Thanks for your comments. Have a nice day.

I enjoy ALL types of movies. I attend on average one or two movies every week. There is no one type of movie for me. I believe in fact that because I attend every type of movie that it allows me to speak to its merits and flaws. This particular movie has a target audience of young teens. There is lots of CGI action, and hot chicks wearing skimpy outfits... No biggie... But this movie lacks any storyline and emphasizes visual candy... The movie was smart enough to not show breasts etc. which would have ramped up its rating to 18A and close of their market revenue. So Jake I would disagree with you about the type of movie that "is for me". Sucker Punch whose title is ironic, is just plain bad. Thanks for your comments. As for the visual effects, they were just ordinary compared to most movies out there today. Indeed most movies coming out are all special CGI effects. That is a given in today's market place and economically appealing. You are aware of this aren't you Jake. Even a simple movie like "The Proposal" was 90% cgi. They weren't ever in British Columbia... but who cares it was a nice cheesy story.

Don't get me wrong, I thought Sucker Punch was a major letdown. That said, I'm really not sure how you could be so confused by such a simple plot. There were three settings: the real world, in which Baby Doll is in the Asylum, her imagination, in which she is held captive in a brothel, and a third dream state in which all of the girls had superhuman abilities and dragons existed. That's it. Also, the very fact that you gave The Wolfman a higher score than Inception speaks volumes about your low IQ. Just because you can use a couple of fancy words in your discourse, doesn't make you a smart cookie [...]

Firstly I fully understood the movie. I am not sure how you got the impression that I did not get the storyline. Secondly I am not sure what "big words" that you see me using. I write in a simple language. My rating for Wolfman was low I believe I gave it a five. The special effects were quite weak especially the wolfman himself. My lower rating for Inception was based on the constant dribble from the mouth of the female throughout. Much like Angels and Demons with Tom Hanks... every step of the storyline was asked by the side kick to which either DiCaprio or Hanks would then answer the question. It is a cheap trick used by directors to "explain" what is going on. "If I die in a dream, do I die in real life? "... etc... AND in closing you will notice that Sucker punch lasted only three weeks in the theaters... a dud.
