    The Babadook

If you want a frightening flick that doesn't forget what horror truly means, look no further than "The Babadook". Very real in its presentation of the horrors of raising a child (Alone no less) and yet incredibly surreal in its visuals. It knows when to let your imagination do the scaring but doesn't shirk on unsettling imagery. With echoes of Lynch and Polanski and one hell of a lead performance from Essie Davis. And the kid! WHERE THE HELL DID THEY FIND THAT KID!? At times he's like the "Eraserhead" baby grown up!
