The Green Hornet

Click here to show this review. You won't be disappointed if you are looking for an action movie. The action is prevalent throughout and there are lots of new "kills" and fight scenes. There is a new twist to some of the fight scenes as while Kato is shown in slow-mo the rest of the actors on screen are in regular speed. I am not sure how this was done. As for the 3-D it was just OK. At one point there was a neat effect where the screen kept dividing into panels... first two, then three, then four, until there were about a dozen panels. The neat part about it was that each panel was shown as a different depth on the screen for the viewer. Cool and thoughtfully done. I suppose that this was intended to be a comedy and essentially it was, but some scenes between Seth and Kato were a bit too aggressive or uncomfortable. The main villain (the academy award winer guy from Inglorious Basterds) was not convincing nor appealing. I think his role needed to be made more sinister/fearful. His character needed more work. He seemed to change his personality about half way through which I found distracting from the story line. The car was great. Carmen Diaz did a good job as a 'serious' character in a comedy. But in the end there were a few loose ends that could have been tidied up with some dialog. It is a night out. The 3-D is barely noticeable. Kato is impressive, and perhaps better than Bruce Lee, but Rogen dominates most of the movie and appears to be a Narcissist, without regard for any other characters.
