Dan Stevens left the cast of Downton Abbey to pursue an individual acting career. "Well done!" before the general public could only accept him as the inheritor of the Abbey. In any case, he's already completed several films. In this one, (love it or hate it), Dan Stevens gives a badass performance in which he can turn on the charm and as quickly become mesmerizingly, deadly serious. The film comes off with some wicked aplomb and psycho charm that can prove appealing. For the most fun take the film as a slightly absurd but entertaining thriller, that is, if you can stand some significant amounts of brutality. You might even look at the film as fantasy escapism. It's all very brave, colourful and diverting as things go slightly "BONKERS"!!! IN ANY CASE DON'T BE SO SERIOUS ABOUT IT! Watch it like some 1980's thriller newly released. It might not be the best thriller on record, but it does succeed in an odd sort of way because of the audacious efforts of the cast, writer and director.
