Like everyone else I guess I kind of knew beforehand that our astronauts are risking their lives every time they go into space. But I must say this movie brought it all home to me. The total courage, perseverance, inner strength, objectivity and selflessness that are characteristic of our astronauts, touched my heart and made everything so real for me that I was very, very quiet in order to better assimilate this noble reality. They, in my eyes, are truly the chosen few, oftentimes the unsung heroes that quietly help to advance science in the hopes of making the universe a friendlier place for us, a more accessible place. And what is to be said about the driven force behind the multitude of technical supporters required to make it all happen? There are some pretty important people out there, doing their job with passion and compassion, to whom we never give a second thought. Well "podners" that all changed for me today. I'm thankful this film was produced and I loved Matt Damon in it. His wry wit made an otherwise dramatic story lighter, easier to take.
I didn't want it to end but there you go! It certainly had to. It's comparable to other space movies but it's also in a class of its own. Hope you'll like it.
