Skeleton Twins is reminiscent of You Can Count On Me with Laura Linney and Mark Ruffalo. Both movies concern psychologically damaged siblings struggling to maintain a grip on life in an effort to live some semblance of normal every-day existence. In the current film Kristin Wiig and Bill Hader emerge as real people who we care for, but they do not always make the best choices in life. The very beginning of the movie is cringe-inducing but sets the tone for the rest of the narrative. Hader and Wiig appear as characters far removed from their antics and clowning in SNL. Performances are excellent but we could have done without the lip-synching of Starship's "Nothing's Gonna Stop Us Now". That sort of scene has become a cliché.
