The Wolfman is a pretty fun movie... it's an old-fashioned monster-horror movie that wouldn't have seemed out of place 50-60 years ago, or even earlier, except for the wonderful production values and Victorian England setting. The only problem is that it's played a little too straight. Benicio Del Toro is tortured and doomed... Anthony Hopkins is evil and crazy... Emily Blunt is beautiful and virtuous (although a little too enterprising and self-willed for a proper Victorian young lady) Only Hugo Weaving seems to be having any fun with his role... and it's a very straight, sober kind of fun. This movie is worth seeing, if only to see a quality recreation of an old classic. Just don't go in expecting rock'n'roll.
