Great film based on the true story of Maria Altmann’s quest to recover family possessions seized by the Nazis – most notably the famous painting of the “The Lady in Gold”. This movie is entertaining, educational, and well scripted. Strong acting by everyone– especially by Helen Mirren (as Maria Altmann) and Ryan Reynolds (as Randy Schoenberg) The impact of World War II is definitely felt in this motion picture. There are appropriate flashes back to the 1930’s and 1940’s throughout the movie for proper context. The costume, makeup, set design, and cinematography are first rate and makes you feel as if you are in that era. Great shots and scenery of Austria adds to the richness of the film. This is a movie definitely worth watching...
