Theodore Bikel: In the Shoes of Sholom Aleichem

    Reviewed by

The great Yiddish and English speaking actor Theodore Bikel originated the part of the Captain on Broadway in 'The Sound of Music' with Mary Martin. This documentary on the life and works of the great Sholom Aleichem will reveal a very erudite man who preferred to write in his most personal style, yiddish. The Tevye stories which form the great musical 'Fiddler on the Roof' are his creations. He is a cultured, literary man and it's sad more people do not know of this genius today... even through translation.
