As much as TINKER got some 7 nominations from the Academy, ( the only film body to give the movie any nominations at all ) I thought it was a horrible film and agreed with most film societies and Award Presenters that it didn't deserve even 1 nomination. There was no need to remake it as Sir Alec Guiness had done some "good" work in the original version, though I hated even that old chestnut. I loathed the entire concept of the novel and film. This version annoyed me to no end. The quite ludicrous additions and changes bothered me a great deal and left me totally unsatisfied. Too boot it moved at a snail's pace and if not a spy enthusiast this film could be deadly: put you to sleep or literally drive you insane. Gary Oldman was O. K. but only received an Oscar Nomination by the Academy, no other film body nominated him. I hated his performance! I much preferred Mark Strong. The entire feel and ambiance of the film were way below standard for my liking. This is a film I dislike very, very much! Avoid it at all costs unless you are some wimpy SPY LUNATIC.
GOD! I detested this film.
