In most Hollywood films 'the end' also means 'the conclusion'. Not so this little film out of Scotland. Here the film, like life, has an end. Yet it is difficult to draw a conclusion. Scarlett Johansson is the only actor of note here and she fulfills her duties admirably. The film is dark in it's moods, in its lighting, under its overcast skies and right down to the shade of skin. I left the theatre with two conflicting thoughts: i) is it as complicated as I think it is, and ii) is it as simple as I think it is. Worthy of another look for sure.
