With the stellar cast I thought it this movie would be fabulous. It was sort of cute, but a tad disappointing for me. This was the most "American" British film I have ever seen. By that I mean the script was very formulaic and all of the family roles were stereotypical, especially those of the over-precocious children who are smarter than all the adults (gag) Billy Connelly was definitely the best part of the film and cast perfectly as the calm, cool and fun grandfather. It was great to see Amanda Bullhorn portraying an overly stressed yuppy social climber's wife in contrast to her role as a brilliant homicide squad leader on television series Jones and Bailey. For me, the real star of the film is the Scottish landscape - its rugged beauty and endless skies. If you want to see a light and sometimes fun summer film (or are planning a trip to Scotland) this would be a good film to see.
