World War Z was one of my must see movies of the summer and although I did leave feeling a bit letdown the film was still a solidly entertaining thriller. Now Walking Dead fans might bitch and moan about the complete lack of gore in the film but since Tom Savini was ripped apart in Romero's Dawn of The Dead every zombie feast since has seemed rather redundant anyway. I mean you've seen one dismemberment you've seen them all. This film is not about gore but rather tension. It has a breathless pace to it rarely stopping for a second and some of the zombie swarms, particularly during an extended sequence in Israel, are truly a marvel. Purists and fans of the novel may cringe at just how much the film deviates from its source material but with the door left open for sequels, they may find place for it all in the end.
